Join Birds Georgia's Habitat Team for a hands-on native gardening workshop at the scenic Island Ford unit of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. This comprehensive workshop will cover everything you need to know to create a thriving native garden that supports local biodiversity.

What to expect:

  • Indoor Session: Learn to identify native plants and their invasive counterparts, discover the benefits of native gardening, and get expert advice on plant selection and garden design.
  • Outdoor Session: Explore the Island Ford Visitor Center's native plant garden, learn practical tips on garden management, proper planting techniques, and strategies to attract and support local wildlife.

Registration is required to attend and is limited to 30 participants. 

Location: Outside the Visitor Center of the Island Ford unit of CRNRA (8800 Roberts Drive, Sandy Springs, GA 30350). There are parking spots available just outside the garden area, near the Visitor Center.

CRNRA requires a $5 daily parking fee or the purchase of a $40 annual pass.

This event will take place rain or shine, however it will be rescheduled in the event of severe weather including thunderstorms or flood warnings. Participants will be notified by email the morning of the event (or sooner) should an event need to be rescheduled due to weather.
