What WE SUPPORT
Ongoing Projects

Wildlife Sanctuary
At the Island Ford Visitor Center, we’ve partnered with Birds Georgia to transform a small area into a thriving native forest and woodland to support local wildlife and pollinators. This sanctuary is designed to meet Birds Georgia’s standards as a certified Wildlife Sanctuary and Environmental Education Site. In partnership with Birds Georgia and dedicated volunteers, this space hosts a pollinator garden that serves as a vital resource for native species and an educational opportunity for park visitors.

Youth Programs
Each year, CNPC partners with CRNRA and Cobb County Water System to welcome up to 600 fourth graders from Title 1 schools to Discovery Days at Sibley Pond. For many of these children, it’s their first chance to connect with nature in their local national park. Through interactive educational stations led by park rangers and volunteers, students explore the park’s wonders. Programs like these nurture a love for the outdoors and inspire the next generation to cherish and protect our natural spaces.

Crime Prevention
Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA) is a sanctuary for nature lovers, and ensuring the safety of our visitors is a top priority. CRNRA Superintendent Ann Honious has approved the installation of Flock cameras at select park entrances. These License Plate Reader cameras capture and record license plates and identifying details of all vehicles entering these units, providing a critical tool for law enforcement to investigate and resolve crimes if they occur.

Trail Revitalization
CNPC is teaming up with CRNRA to bring the Comprehensive Trails Management Plan to life, starting at Island Ford. This exciting effort will make trails across all 15 park units safer, more sustainable, and easier to explore, ensuring everyone can enjoy the beauty of CRNRA for years to come. With the support of our community, donors, and partners, we’re laying the foundation for a stronger, more connected trail system that invites everyone to get outside and explore.
